ishq mujhko nahi, vahshat hi sahi
meri vahshat teri shohrat hi sahi

if not love, let madness be my fate
my madness shall be your glory

– ghalib

Perhaps there is much to reflect on in these simple lines. Madness is never self-willed. It arises from the depths of the soul and takes hold of the ego, driving it in directions that it never thought it would go. It is an unwilling death of the ego, like a wave dying to the ocean it arose from. In this unwilling loss of free will and this death, the glory, power, and majesty of the ocean becomes more radiant than ever, evident for all to see.
