Night journey

The night calls us to make a journey into itself. It is night, because the sky is dark. The sky is dark because it is face to face with the infinite expanses of the universe, which in itself is silent, dark, vast.

In the day, we have lived our lives on earth, we have given a bit of ourselves to the persons, beings, objects we encounter. In the night, we are called to fly into the dark sky and into the vast space that lies beyond.

On this night journey, you will find the grandeur of the universe, and the many bodies of light that populate it like little dots, sparkling on a large, black fabric. The fabric arises from the sacred, expressing both light and darkness, its two aspects.

On this journey, you will meet, in their essence, anybody you have truly loved. Anyone who has found a place in your heart, who has shaped the way you live your life, whose presence has altered your presence. You meet them here. Lovers, teachers, parents. When you are on the night journey, you are intensely aware of your relationship to the most important beings that have crossed your path in life.

If you have ever deeply loved an animal – a cat, a dog, a goat, a bird – you will find that that animal is here, in their essence, their unique self.

Our lives on earth are transient, but our lives in the universe, at night, are not.

On the night journey, you see your own essence – that which you are uniquely meant to live, in flesh and blood, on this earth.

On the night journey, you find your traumas – the ones that you are yet to come to peace with, for they are the offerings you need to make into the fire of awareness, so that you are more and more deeply conscious of who you are.

Our lives on earth are solid and separate, confined to our bodies and their spheres of influence. On the night journey, you flow, not being confined in a particular space.

When you have journeyed across the known and unknown universe, you reach the depths of silence. You see that the night arises from that, which is the ground of all being. The silence of the night is only a doorway to the silence of that, which was there before all sound.

From the night arises the day. From the darkness arise the stars that dot the fabric of the universe. And from these stars, our ephemeral lives on this earth. The journey of the night takes us back to the origins, every night, to remind us what we are here for, to give us a reason to live.

Modern life, where cities shine bright at night, has forgotten the journey of the night. It has forgotten its roots, and we, inhabitants of this life, are like grass blown around by the wind, uprooted, not knowing where it goes.
